SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL (June 4, 2015) allpago International (“allpago”), the leading payment provider for Latin America, is one of the first companies in the region to obtain the PCI DSS Level 1 – 3.0 Certification.
Companies that handle branded credit cards from the major card schemes – including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB – adhere to a proprietary information security standard known as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
The major card brands mandate the standard and The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council administrates it. The standard was first introduced in September 2006 to reduce credit card fraud by the controlling the use of cardholder data. Card schemes allow only companies that are certified PCI DSS Level to store and handle credit card data.
As part of the upgrade to the 3.0 certification allpago performs regularly penetration tests, inventories critical system components, closely monitors vendor relationships and has adopted higher security standards.
Manel Juan, Chief Technical Officer, allpago: “We are proud to meet the highest security standards in the region and what’s more, to be one of the first companies in the region to have achieved this level of certification. It underlines allpago’s commitment to security and our high service levels to merchants.”
